Indwangu ye-PTFE enezinga eliphezulu lokushisa imelana kakhulu nelangabi emlilweni ovulekile, ikakhulukazi ngenxa yesakhiwo samangqamuzana kanye nendlela yokubola okushisayo yezinto zayo eziyinhloko — i-polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). · Amabhondi e-carbon-fluorine (C–F) aqinile : Ama-molecule e-PTFE ahlanganisa umgogodla weketango le-carbon elizungezwe ama-athomu e-fluorine. Amaketanga amangqamuzana aqala ukubola ngaphambi kokuba umoya-mpilo uhlanganyele ekuphenduleni.
· Umkhiqizo oyinhloko i-monomer : Lapho iphuka, i-PTFE ikakhulukazi idlula i-depolymerization , ikhulula ama-monomers e-tetrafluoroethylene (C₂F₄) kusukela ekugcineni kweketango. Izinto ezisetshenziswayo ziyahwamuka kunokuba zibe nokushiswa okunamandla okukhulula inani elikhulu lokushisa namagesi avuthayo.
· Umthelela wesithiyo sesigaba segesi : Igesi engu-C₂F₄ evela ku-depolymerization iminyene kunomoya futhi ihlala eduze nendawo, yakhe ungqimba lwegesi lwesikhashana oluthambisa ukugcwala komoyampilo futhi lucindezele nakakhulu ukusha.

Ukubola emlilweni ovulekile : Uma kuvezwe ngokuqondile emlilweni ovulekile (ngaphezulu kakhulu kwezinga lawo lokushisa lokubola), isendlalelo se-PTFE siyabola, kodwa inqubo ayikhiqizi ukushisa okwanele noma izinto ezivuthayo ukuze kuqhubeke ukuvutha. Kuhlanganiswe nokwesekwa kwefiber yengilazi, amalangabi awakwazi ukusabalala ngokuqhubekayo.
