In strong oxidizing environments, the corrosion resistance of PTFE high temperature cloth barely changes. It resists erosion from a wide range of strong oxidants, including potassium permanganate, hydrogen peroxide, sodium hypochlorite and potassium dichromate.Benefiting from its highly stable molecular structure, the fabric produces no chemical reactions, swelling or degradation when in contact with the above oxidants. Therefore, when used in strong oxidation chemical processes, its physical strength and surface properties are well preserved, delivering excellent long term service reliability.
When immersed in organic solvents, PTFE high temperature cloth maintains completely stable corrosion resistance. It features extreme chemical inertness against alcohols (ethanol), ketones (acetone), aromatic hydrocarbons (toluene, xylene), halogenated hydrocarbons, gasoline, grease and various resin coatings.
Test data shows that even at 300℃, only a handful of perfluorinated alkanes cause slight dissolution. At room temperature, PTFE high temperature cloth will not dissolve or swell in any known organic solvent.When applied as gaskets or conveyor belt substrates, it resists penetration and damage by organic media, greatly extending the service life of its surface functional properties.
In addition to the above media, PTFE high temperature cloth shows negligible performance changes in strong acid, strong alkali and high salt environments.
It withstands long term immersion in concentrated sulfuric acid, nitric acid, hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid and even aqua regia. No obvious weight loss or mechanical performance decline occurs, even in boiling strong acids. It also resists dissolution and strength degradation when exposed to high temperature strong alkalis such as sodium hydroxide and ammonia water.In corrosive atmospheres including seawater, brine, chlorine gas and sulfur dioxide, it consistently retains its original non stick, weather resistant and electrical insulation properties.
Although PTFE high temperature cloth has an extensive corrosion resistance spectrum, a small number of special chemicals will disable its protective performance.
First, contact with molten alkali metals (such as sodium and potassium) must be avoided, as these substances will destroy its molecular chain structure.Second, specific strong fluorinating agents (elemental fluorine, chlorine trifluoride) will cause erosion, especially under high temperature and turbulent conditions.
Temperature is also a critical limit: when the ambient temperature exceeds 400℃, PTFE begins thermal decomposition and releases toxic gas, resulting in the instant loss of both corrosion resistance and mechanical strength.
In most industrial chemical media, PTFE high temperature cloth maintains minimal performance attenuation. Its superior tolerance makes it an ideal material for anti corrosion, sealing and release applications.As long as contact with molten alkali metals and ultra high decomposition temperatures is avoided, its excellent corrosion resistance can be fully utilized, securing its irreplaceable position in harsh chemical working conditions.
