Either too fast or too slow a heating rate will disrupt the stress and mass transfer balance during the formation of PTFE high-temperature cloth.

I. Hazards of Overly Slow Heating to PTFE High-Temperature Cloth

· Blistering: If heating is too slow during the production of PTFE high-temperature cloth by impregnating glass fiber cloth with PTFE emulsion, organic substances such as surfactants and stabilizers in the emulsion will undergo prolonged pyrolysis, generating a large amount of gas. Meanwhile, PTFE densifies prematurely, blocking gas channels in the glass fiber cloth, trapping high-pressure bubbles inside the coating and causing surface blistering on the finished PTFE high-temperature cloth.

· Reduced Adhesion: Slow heating leads to the formation of an excessively thick brittle diffusion layer at the interface between PTFE and glass fiber cloth, exacerbating thermal expansion mismatch and thus reducing the adhesion between the coating and the substrate during the production of PTFE high-temperature cloth.

II. Hazards of Overly Fast Heating to PTFE High-Temperature Cloth

· Cracking: Excessively fast heating generates huge thermal stress during the production of PTFE high-temperature cloth by impregnating glass fiber cloth with PTFE emulsion. Due to the large difference in thermal expansion coefficients between PTFE and glass fiber cloth, rapid heating causes the coating surface to sinter quickly while the interior fails to relax in time, resulting in micro-cracks or even through-cracks, severely damaging the structural integrity of the PTFE high-temperature cloth.

· Blistering and Poor Adhesion: Under rapid heating, the vapor pressure generated by the instantaneous decomposition of organic substances cannot escape through the sealed coating surface, forming dense bubbles. At the same time, the PTFE emulsion fails to fully wet the glass fiber cloth, causing interface bonding defects and significantly reducing the adhesion of the PTFE high-temperature cloth.

To avoid the above defects and produce high-quality PTFE high-temperature cloth, Aokai strictly controls the heating rate in actual production by adopting stepped heating (e.g., room temperature → 120℃ for binder removal → rapid sintering above 300℃), balancing gas discharge and stress relaxation.
