I. Fundamental Chemical Resistance Properties of PTFE High-Temperature Cloth

PTFE high-temperature cloth is fiberglass fabric coated with polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). Owing to its exceptional chemical inertness, it resists nearly all common organic solvents under normal working conditions without dissolution, swelling or chemical reaction.

II. Categories of Tolerable Organic Solvents

All the following solvents can be safely contacted at ambient temperature and temperatures not exceeding the continuous service limit (typically 260°C):

1. Alcohols: Methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, ethylene glycol, etc.

2. Ketones: Acetone, methyl ethyl ketone (MEK), cyclohexanone, etc.

3. Esters: Ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, acrylate esters, etc.

4. Hydrocarbons: Gasoline, kerosene, toluene, xylene, benzene, n-hexane, etc.

5. Halogenated hydrocarbons: Dichloromethane, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, perchloroethylene, etc.

6. Ethers: Diethyl ether, tetrahydrofuran (THF), glycol ethers, etc.

7. Organic acids & acid anhydrides: Glacial acetic acid, formic acid, acetic anhydride, etc.

8. Amines & amides: Triethylamine, dimethylformamide (DMF), etc.

9. Phenols: Phenol, cresol, etc.

10. Others: Carbon disulfide, pyridine, silicone oil, various lubricants, brake fluid, etc.

III. Special Notes on Extreme Service Conditions

1. Virtually insoluble property: PTFE remains completely inert in all conventional organic solvents, and will not dissolve even at boiling temperatures.

2. Rare high-temperature exceptions: Certain highly fluorinated solvents (e.g., perfluorokerosene, perfluorodecalin) may cause trace swelling at temperatures close to 300°C, yet these are not classified as standard industrial organic solvents.

3. Substances to avoid entirely: Molten alkali metals (sodium, potassium), elemental fluorine, chlorine trifluoride and other powerful oxidizing agents will degrade PTFE at high temperatures; these substances are not organic solvents.

IV. Application Conclusion

For standard industrial and laboratory operations, PTFE high-temperature cloth can be regarded as resistant to all organic solvents, safe for immersion and wiping applications.
