Applications of PTFE High-Temperature Fabrics in Carbon Fiber Flat Products Introduction by Jiangsu PTFE High-Temperature Fabric Manufacturers
Mold Anti-Sticking and Demolding Cut PTFE high-temperature fabrics are placed between upper/lower molds and carbon fiber prepregs. They prevent epoxy resin from adhering to molds during curing, enable easy demolding of panels, effectively protect molds and extend service life.
Separation for Multi-Layer Flat Panels When multiple thin panels are molded simultaneously in one mold, PTFE fabrics sandwiched between panels avoid mutual adhesion and guarantee smooth surface finish of individual panels.
Reusable Release Film Lay PTFE fabrics between carbon fiber prepregs and breather cloth to replace disposable release films. The fabrics allow gas and excess resin to pass through. They can be peeled off easily after curing and reused repeatedly, greatly cutting production costs.
Impart Fabric Texture on Surfaces The textured side of standard PTFE fabrics can transfer fine texture directly onto carbon fiber flat panels to improve bonding roughness and eliminate subsequent sanding processes.
Seamless Non-Stick Conveyor Belts In continuous lamination production lines, PTFE fabrics can be fabricated into endless conveyor belts to carry prepregs through heating and pressing zones. Their non-stick property prevents adhesion during continuous movement of panels and maintains clean surfaces.
Cushion Layer for Uniform Pressure PTFE fabrics feature moderate flexibility and mechanical strength, serving as a cushion to distribute pressure evenly across the panel surface and reduce defects such as localized indentations.
Anti-Sticking Mat for Repair Work During local hot-press repair of carbon fiber flat panels, cover the repaired area with PTFE fabrics to prevent overflowing resin from contaminating heating equipment. The fabrics can be removed effortlessly after curing.
Cushion Layer for Panel Straightening When straightening warped panels under heat and pressure, inserted PTFE fabrics avoid surface crushing while providing non-stick performance.
Workbench Protection and Selection Guidelines Lay PTFE fabrics on workbenches during lay-up and resin application. Cured resin drips can be scraped off easily to keep work surfaces clean.
For carbon fiber flat panels with typical curing temperatures of 120°C–180°C, PTFE fabrics with thickness ranging from 0.08 mm to 0.25 mm are sufficient. Select smooth-surface tapes or premium fabrics if a glossy panel surface is required; choose standard textured fabrics if surface texture is needed to enhance adhesion.
