I. Preparation Before Applying PTFE High-Temperature Tape

In more than 80% of cases where PTFE high-temperature tape loses adhesion, the failure is caused by improper surface treatment. Therefore, before application, the following steps must be strictly followed:

· Thorough Cleaning: Use fast-drying solvents such as anhydrous ethanol or acetone to completely remove oil, dust, rust, and other contaminants from the surface. Ensure the surface is fully dry after cleaning; otherwise, the tape cannot adhere firmly.

· Proper Polishing: If the surface is excessively smooth, gently polish it with 240–320 grit fine sandpaper to improve adhesion. Clean the surface again afterward to remove any remaining dust, which is critical for long-term bonding.

· Construction Environment Control:

o The substrate surface temperature should be maintained between 15°C and 40°C.Excessively high or low temperatures will reduce the initial tack of the tape.

o Do not use gasoline, thinners, or other solvents that may leave oily residues, as they will contaminate the adhesive surface of the tape.

II. Key Points for Correct Application

Standardized application is essential to ensure the performance of PTFE high-temperature tape.Please note the following during operation:

· Gentle Unwinding and Application: Unwind and apply the tape gently without stretching it forcefully. Stretching will cause shrinkage, deformation, or debonding when exposed to heat.

· One-Time Accurate Placement: Align and apply the tape in one go, avoiding repeated peeling and repositioning. Press gradually from one end to the other, and use a scraper or cloth to remove air bubbles.

· Firm Edge Pressing: After application, repeatedly press the edges firmly with fingers or tools to prevent edge lifting. For applications in vibrating or long-term high-temperature environments, a small amount of high-temperature-resistant silicone sealant can be applied to the edges for additional fixation.

III. Storage and Maintenance of PTFE High-Temperature Tape

Proper storage preserves the original performance of the tape.Please follow these guidelines:

· Environmental Requirements: Store in a cool, dry place with an ideal temperature of -5°C to 38°C and relative humidity of 30%–70% RH. Keep away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and chemicals such as acids, alkalis, and oils.

· Correct Placement: Store the tape in full rolls only. Folding or heavy pressure is strictly prohibited, as it may cause creases or cracks. For inventory older than six months, regularly roll the tape to avoid local deformation from pressure.

IV. Safe and Environmentally Friendly Disposal of Waste Tape

· No Incineration: Never burn waste PTFE high-temperature tape. Burning releases toxic fluoride gases. Dispose of waste tape as industrial solid waste or hazardous waste in accordance with local environmental regulations.

· Avoid Contact with Adhesive Surface: Minimize direct finger contact with the adhesive layer during application. Skin oils will contaminate the pressure-sensitive adhesive and significantly reduce adhesion.
