For tapes with slight edge warping, you can press the warped parts locally with a roller, or apply mild hot air below 60℃ to enhance adhesion for emergency use. Once the adhesive layer deteriorates, replacement and re-pasting are necessary.
Oil stains and dust will separate the adhesive layer from the base surface. Wipe the surface with high-purity solvent and ensure complete drying. Moderate roughening on smooth roller surfaces can greatly improve adhesion.
Wind the tape with proper tension; excessive tension will cause continuous shrinkage and edge lifting.Roll evenly from one end to the other immediately after fitting to eliminate all air bubbles and ensure full wetting between adhesive and substrate.Finish pasting in one go. Re-sticking will greatly reduce the original bonding strength.
Reserve a safety temperature margin of 20-30℃ even for high-grade PTFE tapes. Long-term overheating will cause chemical degradation and embrittlement of silicone adhesive, which is the main cause of permanent failure. Use clamps and other auxiliary fixing methods under frequent temperature changes. Besides, confirm the chemical resistance of tapes when used in environments with strong alkali, ketone or ester solvents; silicone adhesive backed tapes boast better comprehensive compatibility.
In short, solving edge lifting and peeling problems fundamentally relies on correct product selection, standardized construction and strict working condition control.
