The glass fiber fabric used in Jiangsu Aokai New Materials' PTFE high-temperature cloth mainly adopts three weaving methods: plain weave, twill weave, and satin weave. Different weave patterns have a decisive impact on the penetration depth of PTFE emulsion and coating performance, mainly due to differences in the surface structure and internal pores of the fabric.
Looser weave patterns with fewer interlacing points (satin weave) allow easier emulsion penetration and stronger coating adhesion. Conversely, tighter weave patterns with more interlacing points (plain weave) create greater penetration resistance but deliver better dimensional stability after film formation. The specific characteristics and differences are shown in the table below:
Characteristics | Plain Weave | Twill Weave | Satin Weave |
Structure | Warp and weft yarns interlace one over one under, featuring the most stable structure. | Warp yarns continuously span multiple weft yarns, forming diagonal ridges. | Warp yarns interlace once after spanning multiple weft yarns, with the fewest interlacing points. |
Penetration Depth | Shallow: Dense interlacing points tightly bind yarns, creating small but numerous pores with high resistance to emulsion flow; penetration occurs mainly on the surface. | Medium: Fewer interlacing points and better pore continuity, resulting in greater penetration depth than plain weave. | Deep: Loose structure with large, interconnected pores between yarns; emulsion easily penetrates deep into the fabric to form an "anchoring" structure. |
Coating Adhesion | Relatively high: Mainly surface adhesion; despite shallow penetration, the large surface area provides strong physical adhesion. | Higher: Combines surface adhesion with partial internal anchoring. | Relatively high: Deep penetration forms a 3D mechanical interlock between the coating and yarns, significantly improving peel strength. |
Overall Performance After Coating | High rigidity: Smooth surface with excellent dimensional stability. Tear strength depends mainly on the yarn itself. | Balanced flexibility: Combines strength with moderate softness. | Good flexibility: Softer fabric with high tear strength, but relatively poor warp and weft dimensional stability. |
