As a professional manufacturer of PTFE high temperature cloth, Jiangsu Aokai New Materials shares core slitting techniques. To avoid burrs, delamination and dimensional deviation during slitting, it is essential to systematically control four core elements: cutting tools, equipment, raw materials and processing technology. Negligence in any link will cause finished product defects.
· Material: Prioritize cemented carbide (tungsten steel) or high-speed steel blades for high sharpness and long service life.
· Geometric Shape: Adopt tools with positive rake angle to cut the material cleanly instead of squeezing it, so as to prevent delamination and edge burrs.
· Parameter Setting: The blade clearance is recommended to be 5%-10% of the material thickness; the cutting edge angle is preferably 15° to 20°.
· Tension Control System: Adopt three-section tension control including unwinding, feeding and rewinding to maintain stable tension throughout the process and prevent stretching or loose deformation of materials.
· Deviation Correction System: Follow the principle of adjusting deviation correction first, then adjusting blades to ensure the cutter is parallel to the material edge.
· Cutting Angle: Keep the cutting direction perpendicular to the fiber weaving direction of the cloth. Random cutting will easily cause edge burrs and loose threads.
· Full Curing: Semi-finished products coated with PTFE emulsion shall be placed statically for 2 to 3 days before slitting, so that resin can fully combine and cure with fiberglass substrate.
· Internal Stress Relief: In view of the creep property of PTFE materials, perform pre-annealing treatment to eliminate internal stress and improve dimensional stability in slitting.
· Environmental Control: PTFE is highly sensitive to temperature changes. Slitting shall be conducted in a constant-temperature, constant-humidity and clean workshop to avoid precision errors caused by thermal expansion and contraction.
· Cutting Speed: Combine high cutting speed with low feeding speed to guarantee production efficiency and reduce material extrusion by blades.
· Cooling and Lubrication: Continuously apply compressed air or cooling liquid during slitting to cool down blades and materials, preventing coating softening and burrs caused by overheating.
· Avoid Burrs and Loose Threads: Keep blades sharp and replace regularly; ensure vertical cutting against fabric texture; precisely adjust reasonable blade clearance.
· Prevent Delamination: Guarantee sufficient static curing time for semi-finished products; use sharp blades for neat cutting; select qualified raw materials with strong bonding force between base fabric and PTFE coating.
· Control Dimensional Deviation: Apply three-section tension control to avoid material stretching; conduct annealing stress relief in advance; standardize operation sequence and process in constant temperature environment.
In conclusion, high-precision slitting is a systematic work. Strictly control tools, equipment, materials and processes, and adopt targeted solutions to common defects, so as to effectively improve product yield.
